Daw Ja Htoi Pan
Deputy Minister
Ja Htoi Pan is the Deputy Minister of Education, National Unity Government of Myanmar. Upon finishing her M.A (Anthropology) degree from Northern Illinois University, U.S.A in 2012, she returned back home and served as the Director of Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Mai Ja Yang, Kachin Region and has been involved in numerous education projects in conflict setting in Kachin State in the past decade. She also received postgraduate and research trainings from London School of Economics. She is also a social researcher and her work is published in international peer-reviewed journals such as “Development and Change” and “International Journal of Drugs Policy.” Her work focuses on youth, drugs, education and contemporary social anthropology of Kachin society.
Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun
Deputy Minister
Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun received his BA Hons. in International Relations in 2000 and MA in International Relations in 2002 both from the University of Yangon. In 2008, he received another Master’s Degree in International Development from the Nagoya University in Japan. He then received his Ph.D. in International Development in the year 2011. He started working as a Professor at a University from 2002, and in 2016, he worked as a Guest Professor for the University of Vienna in Austria. He also delivered many lectures on Political Science and policy related courses in domestic community-based organizations and political organizations. In addition, he had written many scholarly papers and articles at home and abroad. He was also actively involved in the educational reforms as well as the formation of labour’ union and educators’ union respectively. In 2019, he served as the President for Yangon Division Employers and Employees Judicial Affairs until the recent military coup. Prior to the coup, he was also working as a Professor at the Department of International Relations in Yangon University of Foreign Languages.
